If you haven’t heard it yet, let me tell you now, your wedding day is going to fly by! I know it seems hard to believe because you spend so much time and energy planning for this day, but if you don’t take time to savour the moments, your wedding day is going to pass like the blink of an eye. It’s not so much to try to remember every little detail, that’s why you hire your photographer and videographers, but you still want to be present and take everything in while it’s happening. Today I’m sharing my tips for how to make the most of your wedding!
Enjoy The Process & Don’t Worry
It can be really difficult to relax while you’re trying to plan and organize the wedding of your dreams. If you’ve planned everything ahead of time and have a team of amazing vendors or friends and family to help, when it comes closer to the day you won’t have as many decisions to make. This means you can spend some more time the week before your wedding, relaxing and spending one-on-one time with your soon to be husband or enjoy a relaxing brunch with your bridesmaids. Staying relaxed will help you to enjoy the moments of your wedding day even more.
You want the memories of your wedding day to last. While your photographer and videographer will be capturing your day, your guests may capture some great moments too. If you’ve created a personalized wedding hashtag be sure to let your guests know so they can include it in their posts. The next day you can scroll through the posts with your hashtag. As a wedding photographer I can assure you there’s no such thing as too many photos! For tips on choosing a wedding hashtag you can read my past blog post, The Beginners Guide to Wedding Hashtags, here.
Pause & Take It All In
Naturally a wedding happens quickly, and if it’s a tight timeline it can go by even quicker. I highly recommending taking a moment to pause and take everything all in. You’ve spent so long planning everything you should truly take a moment to enjoy it. Before you walk down the aisle, pause and notice all of your friends and family there, sitting in the venue decorated with everything you carefully choose. Take a moment to look at your groom as you walk down the aisle and take in his reaction. As you’re taking photos, just the two of you, really stop and relish in the feelings of just being officially married. You may even want to take a moment to sneak away before the reception for just the two of you to talk with no one else there. During your reception notice everyone on the dance floor enjoying themselves. These are the little moments and details you’ll remember.
Things are likely to not go exactly as you had planned. That’s the nature of most weddings. The key is to go with the flow and not let anything steal your joy during your wedding day. When your wedding day flies by you don’t want to look back on it and remember you were upset about a little thing that likely no one else noticed. You want to remember the joy and happiness of marrying the love of your life and celebrating that with your closest friends and family.
Embrace The Attention
It can be hard for introverts to enjoy having all of the attention on them, but on your wedding day, embrace it. Be a social butterfly! Your guests will love to see you be the life of the party on the dance floor or steal the mic at karaoke. It’s your wedding, do what you want!
